1st XI vs Foulridge 1st X1 (a)
(T20)
Friday 30 May 2025

After a heavy defeat against Read last week, Ribblesdale entered the evening with renewed hope boosted by perfect weather and a strong crowd eager to claim their first win in the T20 cup.

Foulridge won the toss and chose to bat, but their innings got off to a disastrous start. Jordan Britcliffe struck immediately, clean-bowling the opening batter with his very first delivery. He followed it up with another wicket in the same over, finishing with a double-wicket maiden. Foulridge tried to recover, but Heshan entered the attack and removed their overseas player, thanks to a sharp catch by Hammad Amin behind the stumps 38/3. Three balls later, Heshan struck again, with Jordan Britcliffe taking a catch to leave Foulridge reeling at 38/4. Jordan claimed another victim the next over, bowling out a batter to make it 39/5. Foulridge lost two more quick wickets at 50, leaving them seven down, but a resilient 53-run partnership gave them hope until Heshan produced a crucial run-out (103/8). The tail didn’t last long, with Jordon Kelly taking his first Ribblesdale wicket and Michael Worthy effecting a run-out to bowl Foulridge out for 111 in 19.2 overs. One of their batters fought hard, finishing unbeaten on 55, but the damage was done. The bowling figures were outstanding: Heshan (4-15) and Jordan (3-14) led the charge, leaving Ribblesdale confident though aware that chasing even a modest total on a slow pitch could be tricky.

Ribblesdale’s reply began disastrously, losing Hammad Amin for a duck in the first over (0/1). Foulridge missed a chance to make it 0/2 with a dropped catch, but Jordon Kelly fell soon after for 16 (17/2). Heshan and Ryan Canning steadied the innings with a patient partnership before Canning departed for 21 (53/3). Heshan, looking to accelerate, was caught and bowled after a brisk 33 (82/4). With the game in the balance, Waqar Rafique and Abrar Hussain calmly guided Ribblesdale toward the target. Hussain (12) was caught going for the winning boundary, but Waqar (27*) held his nerve, sealing a five-wicket victory.

A dominant performance from Ribblesdale featuring clinical bowling, key partnerships, and a composed chase kickstarted their T20 campaign in style!

1st XI vs. Brinscall 1st XI (a)
Saturday 31st May 2025

Ribblesdale travelled to Brinscall looking to strengthen their title challenge. After a brief rain delay reduced the match to 43 overs per side, Ribblesdale won the toss and elected to field.

Brinscall made a strong start, with their captain and professional batter building a steady partnership. Ribblesdale finally broke through when Heshan dismissed the skipper (caught by Collinge), leaving Brinscall at 70-1. The second wicket fell soon after, with Waqar Raffique taking a catch off Jordan Britcliffe’s bowling. Brinscall’s professional then anchored the innings, scoring a solid 83 before Mike Worthy clean bowled him at 157-3. Worthy and Britcliffe struck again, claiming two more wickets, but a late unbeaten 51 from one of Brinscall’s batters helped them post 187-5 from their allotted overs.

In reply, Jordan Kelly gave Ribblesdale a brisk start, but the first wicket fell at 18-1 when Hammed Amin was unfortunately run out at the non-striker’s end for just 2. Kelly soon followed, departing at 29. The professional and Kristian Collinge steadied the innings, taking the score to 58 before Collinge fell for 11. Saturday 31st May 2025

The unstoppable Seconds arrived at Church Meadow, determined to extend their flawless unbeaten record and solidify their position at the top of the table.

Brinscall won the toss and chose to field a decision that initially seemed justified as both openers fell cheaply, leaving the score at a shaky 7/2. But then, Stewart Trotter and Andrew Hutchins stepped up, forging a much-needed partnership. A lifeline came when Hutchins was dropped, and he made Brinscall pay, eventually departing for a superb 61 (following his 86 last week). The duo’s 167-run stand propelled the score to 174/3 before a brief collapse saw Mack Burgess fall for a duck, leaving the team at 175/5.

The innings belonged to Stewart Trotter, who blazed his way to a magnificent 108 off 98 balls (13 fours, 4 sixes) before departing at 203/6. Jack Fielding contributed a handy 26, helping close the innings at a commanding 247/5.

Brinscall’s chase got off to a nightmare start, crumbling to 9/3 under the new-ball pressure of Jack Fielding and Graeme Kershaw. Though they attempted a rebuild, Travis Blezard struck next, leaving them at 44/4. From there, spin duo Blezard and Mack Burgess kept the wickets tumbling, before Charlie Windsor returned to clean up the tail. Every bowler delivered economical spells, sharing the wickets as Brinscall were bundled out for 129 in 36.1 overs.

A dominant 118-run victory secured another 12 points, keeping the title charge in full swing!

1st XI vs. Salesbury 1st XI (a)
Sunday 1st June 2025

The 1st XI traveled to Salesbury for the second round of the Hamer Cup, aiming to build on their impressive first-round win against Barnoldswick. Despite last-minute team changes due to injuries, the squad remained determined.

After winning the toss, the skipper elected to bat—a decision that quickly proved fruitful.

A superb opening partnership of 86 runs set the foundation for a strong innings. Jordan Kelly got things moving with a brisk 47 before departing, bringing Hammid Amin to the crease. Alongside the Pro, Amin pushed the score to 148 with a well-made 54. Andrew Hutchins, drafted into the side in fine form, contributed 10 before falling at 167, while Waqar Raffique (7) was dismissed with the total at 190. The innings then gained fresh momentum as Mack Spencer (27*) partnered with the Pro in a 71-run stand, lifting the team to an imposing 261/5.

The Pro’s unbeaten 91 was a masterclass in pacing an innings patient early on before unleashing a flurry of boundaries, including 10 fours and 3 towering sixes. In response,

Salesbury stumbled early as Mikey Worthy struck three times, leaving them reeling at 46/3. However, their middle order counterattacked aggressively, rebuilding the innings until a breakthrough at 159 shifted the momentum. Despite maintaining a dangerous run rate, Salesbury lost key wickets at crucial moments including a brilliant run-out by Andrew Hutchins (209/7). The skipper’s shrewd bowling changes kept the pressure on, never allowing the batters to settle. Jordan Britcliffe delivered a decisive blow in his final over, taking two wickets in two balls to leave Salesbury at 239/9.

Needing 11 off the last over, their hopes were dashed when Mack Spencer held his nerve with a clutch boundary catch, sealing a dramatic 9-run victory with three balls to spare.

It was a thrilling contest, showcasing a resilient team performance. And judging by the roars from the away dressing room, the players certainly enjoyed it as much as the supporters did!

Sunday 1st June 2025

The Thirds took on Salesbury with high hopes of securing their first victory to kick off the season. Salesbury won the toss and elected to field, putting us into bat on a challenging pitch.

Our innings got off to a shaky start, with Matthew Brett (1) falling early with the score at 6. Joshua Finn (1) followed soon after, leaving us at 14/2. However, a resilient partnership of 49 between Stephen Tandy and Travis Blezard steadied the ship, taking the score to 63 before Tandy was dismissed on 27 as Salesbury’s third wicket. Wickets then fell at regular intervals, but Blezard anchored the innings superbly, reaching a well-compiled half-century. He received valuable support from Alistair Marsh (16), Charlie Windsor (32) and skipper Luke Spencer (14) who all contributed crucial runs. Despite a late flurry of wickets, we posted a competitive total of 186 all out in 39.2 overs a respectable effort given the early setbacks. In response,

Salesbury’s chase never gained momentum. A sharp early breakthrough saw their first wicket fall at just 5 runs, and from there, our bowlers maintained relentless pressure. All six bowlers delivered tight, economical spells, stifling the run rate and leaving Salesbury well behind the required pace. Despite a few stubborn partnerships, Salesbury could only muster 134 runs in their allotted overs falling 52 runs short of the target.

The disciplined bowling and sharp fielding ensured a comprehensive and well-deserved victory for the Thirds.
