The return of the previously unbeaten Barnoldswick to Church Meadow - fresh off our Hamer Cup triumph the week prior - presented an opportunity to build crucial momentum in the League. Though the weather had shifted, the stage was set for the first team to shine once again.
After winning the toss and electing to field, Ian Britcliffe struck early, leaving Barnoldswick at 7-1. His namesake, Jordan Britcliffe, then made quick work of the top order, reducing them to 28-2 before tearing through the middle with a devastating spell that left the visitors reeling at 66-5. Despite a brief recovery, Barnoldswick lost their sixth wicket at 100, and disciplined bowling soon had them struggling at 116-9. Jordan Britcliffe was exceptional, finishing with figures of 5-58 from a relentless 15-over spell. A late 10th-wicket stand of 58 provided some resistance, but Ian Britcliffe returned to wrap up the innings at 174, securing two valuable extra bowling points.
In reply, the rapidly blossoming opening partnership of Hammad Amin (32) and Jordan Kelly (39) got off to a flying start, racing to 75 in quick time - Kelly even launching two massive sixes into the Brownlow Street "stand." Their dismissals triggered a minor stumble, with Waqar Raffique (5) and the Pro (11) falling cheaply, leaving us at 97-4.
Enter Mack Spencer, who has embraced his new role at number five with composure, bringing much-needed stability to the middle order. Supported by Abrar Hussain (18), he guided the score to 130-5 before a brief wobble saw us slip to 131-7. However, Mike Worthy joined Spencer in a calm and collected partnership, steering the chase home with a flurry of boundaries. Spencer remained unbeaten on 39, sealing a well-earned victory.
This was a complete team performance, filled with standout contributions, culminating in a thoroughly deserved win.
