Winning the toss, Ribblesdale elected to bat first.Openers Hammad and Waqar got off to a strong start, finding the boundary regularly before Waqar fell attempting one aggressive shot too many. Heshan followed soon after, caught at mid-off off a poorly executed full toss. Jordan Kelly then joined Hammad, rotating the strike well as the partnership grew steadily. However, just as momentum was building, Hammad (29) was caught at long-on while taking on the fielder in the deep, ending a valuable 55-run stand. Mack Spencer came in and picked up where he left off last week, batting patiently, working the singles, and punishing loose deliveries. Meanwhile, Jordan settled into his innings, striking the ball cleanly and accumulating runs with a mix of well-placed singles and boundaries. After a well-made 68 off 72 balls, Jordan was dismissed, and Ryan Canning followed shortly after, playing on to his stumps. Skipper Bilal and Mack then pushed the score forward with smart running before both fell in the closing stages—Bilal going for a big shot and Mack departing after a solid 45. The innings wrapped up quickly, with Ribblesdale posting a respectable but slightly below-par 205.
In response, Ian and Jordan Britcliffe opened the bowling with tight lines, making scoring difficult. Jordan struck first as Baxenden’s opener skied one to the ever-reliable Michael Worthy. Ian soon followed with another breakthrough, removing the number three—again caught by Worthy. Baxenden rebuilt through their professional and number four, adding 76 runs before Heshan and Michael Worthy were introduced. The change worked immediately: Heshan trapped the pro LBW for 29, while Michael, bowling with good pace, clean-bowled the number four for 49. He then struck twice more in his next over, leaving Baxenden reeling at 99/6. Heshan claimed his second LBW soon after (110/7), but Baxenden counterattacked, taking the score to 131 before Heshan struck again (131/8). Michael finished his match-defining spell with 3/46 off seven overs, and Waqar wrapped up the tail with two quick wickets in the 37th over. Baxenden were all out for 153, handing Ribblesdale their second consecutive win and another 12 points - a result that builds crucial momentum in their league campaign.
Congratulations to Jordon Kelly on his maiden half-century for Ribblesdale Wanderers! A fantastic achievement and a well-deserved milestone. Here’s to many more!
